Our verdict: give Silex a serious trial for research and knowledge reuse
Silex can be the better choice when Swiss source research and access to firm knowledge are the main purchasing reasons. Whisperit belongs in the evaluation when the everyday difficulty is connecting instructions, matter context and reviewed document preparation. Neither recommendation establishes that one product is more accurate.
Do not choose on a false distinction between “Silex does research” and “Whisperit does voice.” Silex publishes a broader toolkit, including audio transcription and document work. Voice is not an exclusive Whisperit capability. The useful comparison is what happens to the information afterwards, and how much work remains for the lawyer. [1] [2]
Silex also advertises Silex Storage included in all plans, without requiring an existing SharePoint setup. Test its supplied storage as well as the Silo Connect option. [1]

A comparison around the job
| Your recurring job | What to evaluate in Silex | What to evaluate in Whisperit |
|---|---|---|
| Find and assess Swiss authority | Relevant sources, scope filters and inspectable reasoning | Relevant sources and the limits of research access |
| Reuse firm precedent | Silos and the actual SharePoint connection | The current supported matter and knowledge workflow |
| Capture an interview | Audio transcript and minutes agent output | Dictation and the path into a working document |
| Prepare the final draft | Research-to-draft continuity and export | Factual continuity, instructions and review handover |
| Maintain an approved data path | Proposed configuration and contractual scope | Selected Swiss Only, EU or Global configuration |
Silex's product page documents research, drafting, Silos and agents. Whisperit's published pages describe dictation, the assistant and research; they do not establish an entitlement equivalent to every subscription library. [1] [3] [4]
Where Silex has a compelling case
Research can lose its value in the handoff from a search result to a useful draft. A source is located, a conclusion is written elsewhere, and the next reviewer has to reconstruct the reasoning. For a research-heavy practice, test whether Silex keeps the basis of the conclusion accessible through that transition.
Its documented drafting path carries research into a first document. That is a meaningful reason to trial Silex ahead of a general production workspace when identifying and articulating the Swiss legal position is the dominant task. It remains a hypothesis about practical fit until a reviewer has checked the output. [1]
Internal knowledge is a second reason. Silex describes a read-only SharePoint index with existing access rights replicated. Test that mechanism using a precedent available to the evaluator and a second document they should not be able to see. A persuasive answer is not useful if it retrieves the wrong team's restricted material. [1]
For a firm with a well-maintained precedent library, this could deliver more value than another drafting surface. For a firm whose files are inconsistent and permissions are unclear, the evaluation should include preparation effort. A connector cannot make the underlying library dependable by itself.
Where Whisperit may fit better
A different practice may begin with a lawyer's spoken instructions, an interview and several matter documents. Its difficulty is assembling the facts and producing work that a colleague can continue. Whisperit's proposed advantage is that daily path from capture through matter context to a reviewed draft. The assistant and case-analysis material give that evaluation a concrete starting point. [3] [5]
Demonstrate the path rather than counting features. Correct a date in the matter, revise a party name, add a contradictory document and ask for an updated client letter. The product should make the correction visible and preserve what is still uncertain. If Silex performs that process with less reviewer effort, choose Silex.
Whisperit should not be selected as a shortcut to licensed Swiss commentary. A practice requiring a particular publisher collection should retain its licence or compare the explicitly licensed alternatives. Nor should Word export be presented as evidence of an in-editor review add-in. [4] [6]
Swiss architecture: compare the proposed agreement
Silex's security page describes persistent storage and backups with Infomaniak in Geneva, and temporary model processing in Azure Switzerland North using self-hosted models. It presents ISO 27001 certification as in progress with a Q3 2026 target; the target's passing does not prove completion. [7]
Its privacy notice permits Switzerland and/or EU hosting and transfers in its stated scope. The draft does not treat that as proof that client documents leave Switzerland. It does mean a buyer should reconcile the privacy notice, product architecture and contract for the services being purchased. [8]
Whisperit similarly needs a specified tenant configuration. Its published Swiss Only, EU and Global tiers should be evaluated separately. Its assurance roadmap is not a completed certification. These distinctions help a firm compare evidence it can actually obtain, rather than infer identical controls from Swiss branding. [9]
Price the workflow, including agent usage
Silex lists Solo at CHF 149 monthly or CHF 1,440 annually, excluding VAT. The annual Team offer is CHF 5,280 for up to five seats. Solo includes ten monthly agent credits; Team includes one hundred. Unlimited research does not mean unlimited use of every agent. [10]
Ask how transcription, translation and other tasks consume credits, how overflow is priced and whether storage allowances cover the firm's files. Obtain Whisperit's current quote for the same people and workload. A cheap research subscription with an unused workflow is not good value; neither is a broad platform when a narrower tool solves the recurring task.
Do not subtract published “time saved” claims from the subscription cost. Measure reviewer effort in the firm's own trial, and distinguish time freed for useful work from revenue the firm can actually earn.
A practical side-by-side trial
Use a completed, approved cantonal matter with a known leading decision, a previous firm memo, an interview recording and a fact that remains unresolved. Provide equivalent inputs to both tools. Confirm which features and source collections the offered plan includes before running it.
First require a short research note: the applicable law, contrary authority, exact passages and unresolved facts. Then produce a client letter and a colleague briefing. Correct one material fact after the first draft. The next output should carry the correction through without silently changing the legal assumption.
Finally, give the result to a lawyer who did not run the prompt. Count unsupported statements, missed evidence, language corrections and minutes spent opening sources. Measure time to an accepted deliverable, including source access and export. Keep the original outputs: a polished demonstration is difficult to challenge without a record.
Weblaw's public challenge cannot supply a Silex-versus-Whisperit score. Silex participated; Whisperit is not in the named set. The anonymous published matrices cannot identify Silex's result either. [11]
For another local research-and-workspace option, read Silex vs Omnilex. If a particular publication is indispensable, the Swiss research tools guide helps distinguish source entitlements from the broader workspace.
Frequently asked questions
Is Silex only a research tool?
No. Its published toolkit includes broader document and audio work, and its knowledge offering creates meaningful overlap with a legal workspace. Judge the full process rather than relying on a narrow category label.
Does Silex have proven better legal accuracy?
We have not established that. Public capability claims and the anonymous Weblaw matrices do not provide a named comparative accuracy result. Use a reviewed, source-based trial.
When would we choose Silex over Whisperit?
When the trial shows it solves the practice's Swiss research or precedent-reuse problem better, with an acceptable data path and commercial scope. Being written by Whisperit should not stop this page from recommending that outcome.
