Our verdict: both belong in a Swiss firm's trial
Start with Silex when Swiss source research and permission-aware firm knowledge are the leading priorities. Start with Omnilex when a combined Swiss research, project and configurable-agent workspace is the more important buying decision. These are our interpretations of the documented offerings, not measured superiority claims.
Both are substantial platforms. Silex includes document and audio agents; Omnilex includes case and knowledge work. A “research tool versus workspace” label would hide useful overlap. The choice should emerge from a completed, reviewed task that reflects the firm's actual work. [1] [2] [3]
This comparison is written by Whisperit, a competing product. The author relationship does not change the recommendation: either competitor may be the best fit for a particular practice.
Silex also advertises Silex Storage included in all plans, without requiring an existing SharePoint setup. Test its supplied storage as well as the Silo Connect option. [2]

The meaningful differences to test
| Question | Silex | Omnilex |
|---|---|---|
| What research path is documented? | Swiss-source reasoning, scope selection and research-to-draft work | Swiss research within a broader software workspace |
| How is firm knowledge used? | Silos, including documented permission-aware SharePoint indexing | Team know-how integration and project collaboration |
| Are repeated jobs configurable? | A published legal agent toolkit | Agent building within the offer |
| What does commentary mean? | Verify named works, editions and access | Own AI-assisted commentary; verify provenance and rights |
| What data path is stated? | Swiss architecture; reconcile broader privacy-notice scope | Swiss storage with Swiss/selected EU processing |
| How is usage packaged? | Research plus agent-credit allowances | Annual per-user plans and advertised unlimited use |
Sources: current product, security and pricing material. “Unlimited” and a corpus headline are commercial or descriptive claims, not evidence of flawless answers or unrestricted operational capacity. [2] [4] [5] [6] [3] [7]
When we would evaluate Silex first
A research-heavy practice should test how quickly it can move from a question to a defensible note, with sources still inspectable. Scope matters: a federal rule, a cantonal provision and a historical version can produce different answers. The useful tool helps the lawyer understand those boundaries.
Silex's research-to-drafting approach is a reason to inspect that continuity closely. Require a short memo with a counterargument and exact supporting passages. Then turn it into a client explanation. The second document should preserve the legal qualification rather than replace it with a simpler but misleading conclusion. [2]
Silos also makes Silex a serious candidate for firms with useful internal precedents. Test knowledge reuse on an approved SharePoint library, including a restricted file. Check whether the result helps the lawyer locate the right precedent and understand its relevance to the new facts. A connector earns its place by respecting access and producing useful context.
This preference can change. If the firm's library is poorly maintained or the offered integration does not fit its environment, Silex's knowledge capability may not create immediate value. Include setup and maintenance effort in the decision rather than treat the presence of a connector as a completed knowledge program.
When we would evaluate Omnilex first
A firm may primarily want legal questions, documents and reusable tasks to stay together across a matter. Omnilex's Swiss software offering describes Cases, projects and custom agents. Those are reasons to test whether the platform preserves useful context through a sequence of jobs. [3]
Build one repeated instruction, run it on two different matters and ask another lawyer to continue. A second case should expose whether the instruction handles changed facts or merely reproduces the first result's structure. Record assumptions and unsupported statements, not only whether the output is pleasant to read.
Team collaboration and know-how integration are part of Omnilex's Team packaging. Confirm what the integration includes and how permissions, updates and deletion work. The purchasing question is about the delivered system for the whole team, not a single user's impressive first session. [7]
Omnilex's Swiss workspace should also be distinguished from its similarly branded legal services. This article uses the professional software pages and corresponding Swiss commercial scope. Old country-specific or sandbox pages are not a reliable basis for today's Swiss feature or price comparison. [3]
Compare commentary by identity and evidence
Omnilex describes its own AI-assisted commentary. Do not infer that the commentary label establishes a licence to a different publisher's named work. Equally, do not assume that a competing corpus count proves broader or better doctrine coverage. [3]
Give both tools the same question and ask to open the actual commentary passage supporting the conclusion. Record the author, date or edition, provenance, source references and access rights. A firm can then decide whether the material is sufficient for the task or whether its existing subscriptions remain necessary.
For work requiring a specific legalis or Stämpfli collection, add the relevant Swiss-Noxtua or Libra configuration to the source evaluation. A source-based choice is stronger than declaring one of these two platforms universally best for Swiss law. [8] [9]
Compare like-for-like annual scope
Silex's published annual Solo offer is CHF 1,440; Team is CHF 5,280 for up to five seats, excluding VAT. Agent-credit allowances differ from research usage. Omnilex lists Individual at CHF 2,000 per user annually and Team from two users at CHF 1,600 per user annually, also excluding VAT. [6] [7]
Those offers use different commercial units. At full occupancy, Silex Team's seat arithmetic is CHF 1,056 per seat per year; at two occupied seats, it is CHF 2,640. This is arithmetic from a flat team subscription, not a vendor's per-seat tariff. Omnilex Team is published per user. Do not rank cost without specifying occupancy and required usage.
Ask how agent tasks, storage, usage policies, know-how setup and support affect the actual proposal. Include existing source subscriptions that remain. Measure correction and verification effort before applying any value estimate. Vendor time-saving claims are not the firm's realised financial result.
Compare the proposed processing architecture
Silex's security documentation describes Swiss storage and self-hosted inference in Azure Switzerland North; its privacy notice allows Switzerland and/or EU hosting or transfers in its scope. Clarify that boundary in the proposal. Do not infer either a completed certification from a target date or a client-data transfer merely from a broadly written privacy notice. [4] [5]
Omnilex explicitly describes Azure Zurich storage and processing in Switzerland and selected EU countries. Its ISO certification is a vendor claim whose scope has not been privately reviewed here. A strictly Swiss-only requirement needs a documented answer, not an assumption based on headquarters. [7]
Approve the relevant configuration independently of the research trial. A well-performing product can fail a client's contractual processing condition; an acceptable architecture can still produce poor legal work.
Weblaw's challenge cannot choose between them
Both participated in the June challenge. Its public anonymous matrices cannot assign results to Silex or Omnilex, and this draft does not reconstruct identities from logo order. The event also predates the current pages being compared. [10]
Use an approved matter with historical law, contrary authority and a missing fact. Require the same memo and client explanation, then let a second lawyer verify them. Repeat a subset of the tasks to see whether the first result was representative. Save the outputs and choose on the reviewed work, configuration and offer.
For the other Swiss vendor categories and public offers, use the Swiss legal AI market overview. For source-led selection, use the Swiss research tools guide. These are separate decisions from choosing between the two workspaces.
Frequently asked questions
Did Silex outperform Omnilex in Weblaw's public results?
The available anonymous result columns do not establish that attribution. No named score is asserted here.
Is Silex necessarily cheaper for a small firm?
It depends on occupied seats, required agents, usage and the delivered scope. A flat team fee and a per-user annual fee cannot be ranked without those inputs.
Why is Whisperit not the recommendation in this page?
The reader asked about two competing products. A useful comparison should help that reader decide between them. Whisperit can be evaluated separately when its daily workflow fits the firm's needs.
